The crescent of Shawwal has been sighted, heralding Eid-al-Fitr celebrations on Sunday, March 30, 2025, across Saudi Arabia and Nigeria. Haramin, an official platform for the global Muslim community, announced, “The crescent moon for the month of Shawwal 1446 was sighted in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, Eid Al Fitr will be celebrated on Sunday, March 30, 2025.”

In Nigeria, the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), led by the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, confirmed the crescent’s sighting through the National Moon Sighting Committees across the country. Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, NSCIA’s Secretary-General, had earlier guided the Muslim Ummah: “Muslims are enjoined to search for the crescent of Shawwal on the 29th of Ramadan. If sighted, Sunday, 30th March 2025, would be the 1st of Shawwal and the day of ‘Idul Fitr.”

The Sultan officially declared Sunday as Eid-el-Fitr day, extending prayers for peace and blessings: “Let us continue to pray for the progress and development of the nation and for our leaders at all levels.”

The unified observance highlights the harmony of global Islamic traditions as millions prepare for the festive occasion on Sunday. Eid Mubarak!
