The Zimbabwean Ministry of Health and Child Care has issued a critical warning to the public regarding a fraudulent nurse recruitment scheme orchestrated by individuals posing as legitimate facilitators. The scheme involves people using false identities and making misleading claims, ultimately preying on vulnerable citizens.

The Ministry identified the alleged scammers as “SISTER MADYA,” reportedly from the Outpatient Department (OPD), and “DR MADYIRA,” who is linked to a WhatsApp number, 0773815136.

These individuals, according to the Ministry, are convincing potential nursing candidates to pay USD $75 through payment platforms such as Inbucks or Mukuru, promising to assist in placements at hospitals including Parirenyatwa, Sally Mugabe, UBH, Mpilo, Gutu, and Karanda Hospital. They also reportedly guarantee recruitment and request personal information as part of their process.

In an unequivocal statement, the Ministry declared, “Nursing recruitment is free of charge, and the Government does not require any payments to secure employment in the healthcare sector.” Officials further stressed that the Ministry has no affiliation with these scammers, urging citizens to remain cautious.

The Ministry emphasized that individuals should “verify information through official Ministry channels” and ensure they avoid engaging with suspicious entities. It also urged anyone encountering such fraudulent activities to “report incidents to the Zimbabwe Republic Police immediately.”

To ensure transparency and protect the public from fraud, the Ministry reiterated, “For authentic information on nurse recruitment, follow official Ministry social media channels and Government State media.” A spokesperson added, “By collaborating, we can prevent scams and ensure a secure, transparent recruitment process.”
