The National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA) is poised to launch several flagship social protection initiatives, including the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP), N-Power, Grant for Vulnerable Groups (GVG), and the National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSFP), following the successful disbursement of funds to over 1.8 million beneficiaries by the National Social Safety Net Coordinating Office (NASSCO) and the National Cash Transfer Office (NCTO).
This major development was announced today by Associate Professor Badamasi Lawal, PhD, National Coordinator and CEO of NSIPA, during the opening ceremony of the NSIPA Management Workshop in Abuja. Themed “Policy Development for Social Investment Programme Agency: Programme Implementation and Structure,” the workshop marks the first under Dr. Badamasi’s leadership and signals a renewed focus on delivering President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s poverty alleviation agenda.
Dr. Badamasi underscored the critical role NSIPA plays in designing, implementing, and coordinating nationwide social protection programmes aimed at addressing poverty, vulnerability, and inequality. “We are at a pivotal moment in our journey, marked by renewed hope and a strengthened resolve under the visionary leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,” he stated.
He stressed that the sustainability and success of NSIPA’s interventions depend on several key pillars: effective policy frameworks, sound implementation strategies, robust institutions, community ownership, and strong cross-sector partnerships. Dr. Badamasi reaffirmed the agency’s unwavering commitment to achieving measurable impacts aligned with the President’s Renewed Hope agenda.
“Our goal is clear: to exchange knowledge, harmonize our strategies, and build a more resilient system that delivers measurable impact at scale,” Dr. Badamasi said. “We must continuously evaluate our outreach, inclusivity, efficiency, and adaptability.”
The workshop, organized in collaboration with NEETSGE Nigeria Ltd, provided a platform for in-depth discussions on critical aspects of NSIPA’s mission. Topics included an overview of Nigeria’s social investment programmes, a detailed review of the NSIPA Act of 2023, the defined roles and responsibilities of programme managers, administrative procedures for effective implementation, strategies for synergy across NSIPA’s programme portfolio, and best practices for policy development and execution.
Dr. Badamasi extended his gratitude to President Tinubu for the confidence placed in his leadership, assuring stakeholders that the entire NSIPA team — including national programme managers and staff — is fully dedicated to delivering on the administration’s promises to improve the lives of millions of Nigerians.
With the foundation set through the recent payments coordinated by NASSCO and NCTO, NSIPA is now positioned to accelerate its programme rollout, expanding the reach and deepening the impact of social investments across the country.
