As the Muslim faithful in Kogi State and across Nigeria mark the sacred festival of Eid al-Adha, also known as Eid-Kabir, the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Comrade Joel Salifu, has extended warm and heartfelt greetings to the Islamic community, calling for unity, compassion, and collective progress.
In a personal message released today and signed by the Deputy Governor himself, Comrade Salifu praised the enduring spirit of sacrifice and devotion that the Eid-Kabir celebration represents. He urged citizens to allow the core values of the seasonโsacrifice, unity, and compassionโto guide their actions and inspire efforts aimed at building a peaceful and prosperous society.
โAs we celebrate this sacred season, I extend heartfelt greetings to our Muslim brothers and sisters across Kogi State and Nigeria,โ the Deputy Governor stated.
He emphasized that the virtues associated with Eid-Kabir go beyond religious observance, serving as guiding principles for communal living and state development. In his words, โMay the virtues of sacrifice, unity, and compassion that define this holy day inspire us all to work together for peace, progress, and the common good of our dear state.โ
The Deputy Governor also called on residents to continue embodying the love and mercy of Allah in their daily interactions, reminding them that such values are vital to nurturing trust, cooperation, and shared purpose in society.
โLet us continue to reflect the love and mercy of Allah in all we do,โ he urged.
Concluding his message with a traditional Eid greeting, Comrade Salifu wished the Muslim community a joyful and blessed celebration, declaring: โEid Mubarak!โ
The Deputy Governor’s message comes as Muslim communities across the country gather in prayer, charity, and festivity to commemorate the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice in obedience to Godโa narrative central to the spirit of Eid-Kabir.
With this address, Comrade Salifu joins a growing number of national and regional leaders who have used the occasion to promote peace, religious tolerance, and the shared responsibility of nation-building.
