In a fresh move to deepen public engagement and promote transparency in governance, the Office of the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor of Kogi State has officially launched the inaugural edition of the Lugard House Monthly newsletter.
The publication, which aims to enhance dissemination of information about the policies and achievements of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration, was released on June 5, 2025.
Conceived by Hon. Ismaila Isah, Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, the monthly newsletter is positioned as a strategic tool to showcase the government’s developmental strides and policy interventions across Kogi State. The first issue highlights the administration’s activities for the month of May 2025, serving as both a communication platform and a documentation hub of the government’s initiatives.
“This newsletter is part of our sustained efforts to create more transparent and accessible communication channels for the people of Kogi,” Hon. Isah stated in the official release. “It is a portable directory of Governor Ododo’s actions and intentions, and another step in building trust between the government and the governed.”
The Lugard House Monthly follows the earlier launch of the widely applauded Kogi Annual Media Report in April 2025, further reinforcing the administration’s media-forward approach under the leadership of Governor Ododo. The newsletter will be produced regularly on a monthly basis, offering insights into government programs, projects, and policies, while spotlighting the socio-economic impacts on the lives of Kogites.
Observers see this initiative as part of a broader strategy by Governor Ododo’s media team to institutionalize open governance and provide consistent updates on the administration’s progress. The document is expected to become a valuable reference material for stakeholders, researchers, and members of the public interested in tracking the state’s development trajectory.
Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, who assumed office earlier in the year, has consistently emphasized people-centered governance, with a focus on improving infrastructure, healthcare, education, and youth empowerment. The launch of Lugard House Monthly appears to align with his administration’s commitment to accountability and inclusive governance.
The newsletter will be available in both digital and print formats, targeting a wide range of audiences including media professionals, civil society organizations, and grassroots communities.
The Special Adviser concluded by reaffirming the government’s dedication to openness, saying, “With this monthly publication, we are not only amplifying our achievements but also inviting public participation and scrutiny, which are essential ingredients of democratic governance.”
