Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and residents of the state to intensify efforts in mobilising eligible voters, particularly those yet to register, for the ongoing exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The Governor made the appeal on Tuesday during an enlarged meeting of party leaders across wards, local governments, and the state at Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba. He emphasised that citizens who turned 18 since the last registration in 2022 must be encouraged to register in order to participate in the 2027 general elections.

Oborevwori said the gathering was aimed at strengthening unity among stakeholders, stressing that with a united front, the APC was well positioned for victory at all levels.

He assured that his administration would continue to work in synergy with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the good of both the state and the nation, while commending party leaders at various levels for their commitment to its growth and development.

“With unity in our party, no other political party can defeat the APC. We are performing well at the federal level, and we are equally doing well here in the state. The issue of voters’ registration is very important, and we must take it seriously. From the ward level, ensure that those who could not register before are captured this time,” the Governor stated.

In his remarks, Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, reminded elected and appointed members of their responsibility to return to their wards and local governments to mobilise registrants, noting that teamwork remained key to advancing the “Renewed Hope for More Agenda.”

The State Chairman of the APC, Elder Omeni Sobotie, also underscored the need for unity, urging members to work together to improve the party’s electoral fortunes. Similarly, Chief Solomon Arenyeka appealed to aggrieved members to bury their differences and embrace peace for the growth of the APC and the state’s overall development.

Addressing journalists after the meeting, the State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr. Valentine Onojeghuo, explained that the gathering was convened to consolidate party unity and drive awareness on the ongoing voter registration. He maintained that unity and loyalty were indispensable to the APC’s success in the 2027 elections, adding that capturing all eligible young people in the registration would give the party a decisive edge at the polls.
