The Emede Kingdom is celebrating a historic milestone as its traditional ruler, His Royal Majesty Johnson Egbo (Ewhiri II), prepares to be called to the Nigerian Bar on November 25, 2025.
The monarch, widely admired for his humility, resilience, and dedication to service, is being hailed for achieving a goal many considered extraordinary for a reigning king.
HRM Egbo, who ascended the throne of Emede Kingdom in 1998, had previously served as a pastor in the Christ Apostolic Church before embracing his ancestral calling.
His transition from pastoral leadership to kingship was marked by deep reflection and prayer, according to those close to him. Yet the monarch continued to pursue education with remarkable determination despite the administrative and cultural obligations of the throne.
Beginning with only a secondary school certificate, the Ovie retook his GCE examinations, gained admission into Igbinedion University, and later proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, where he successfully completed his legal training.
His forthcoming call to the Bar has been described as a โtestament to extraordinary perseveranceโ by stakeholders and community members.
Residents of Emede Kingdom expressed pride in the monarchโs achievement, praising his commitment to personal growth and community leadership. Traditional chants such as โOgbodu! Acacabraka! Okonakpenuhu!โ echoed across social gatherings as news of his accomplishment spread.
Hon. Emakpor Odogu, the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Community Development, commended the monarchโs journey, noting that his story would serve as an inspiration for generations.
โHis Majesty has shown that no obstacle is insurmountable when purpose meets determination,โ Odogu said.
โHis legacy now stretches across spirituality, tradition, and the legal profession.โ
As His Royal Majesty prepares to join the ranks of legal practitioners, well-wishers hope that his new role will deepen his contributions to justice and development in Emede Kingdom and beyond.
The community continues to celebrate the monarchโs achievement, describing it as a powerful reminder of what faith, resilience, and vision can accomplish.
