Northern youths, under the banner of Arewa Youth Assembly for Good Leadership (AYAGL) has written to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, commending his administration for what it described as a resolute commitment to strengthening national security across Nigeria.
In a letter dated 17th February, 2026, and addressed to the President at the State House, Abuja, the group expressed โsincere appreciation and commendationโ for the administrationโs efforts in restoring peace, reinforcing institutional capacity, and promoting effective inter-agency collaboration in addressing security challenges confronting the nation.
The correspondence, signed by Amb. Abdul Danbature, President of AYAGL, stated that the renewed coordination among security and intelligence agencies reflects purposeful governance and a deep commitment to safeguarding lives, property, and the territorial integrity of the country.
The youth organization particularly commended the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, for what it described as his pivotal role in coordinating national security strategy and enhancing intelligence-driven operations. According to the letter, Ribaduโs proactive approach to harmonizing security efforts, strengthening counterterrorism frameworks, and fostering synergy among armed and intelligence services has significantly contributed to ongoing efforts to combat terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities threatening national stability.
The Assembly also acknowledged what it termed the commendable leadership of the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Abubakar Audi. Under his stewardship, the Corps has intensified the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure, strengthened community-based security operations, and reinforced civil defence mechanisms across vulnerable communities.
The group noted that these efforts have further enhanced grassroots security and public confidence in the national security architecture.
Describing itself as a youth-focused organization committed to peacebuilding, responsible civic engagement, and national unity, AYAGL emphasized that sustainable development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and security. The Assembly therefore commended the Tinubu administration for prioritizing reforms that promote professionalism, accountability, and collaboration within security institutions.
The group concluded by assuring the President of its continued support in promoting peaceful coexistence, youth engagement, and national unity across all regions of the country.
