The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in Bauchi State has strongly condemned the recent endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term ahead of the 2027 presidential election by stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the move as insensitive and disconnected from the realities facing Nigerians.
In a press statement issued on Wednesday and signed by its State Chairman, Hon. Abdurrahman Yusuf Muazu (Sardaunan Boto), the opposition party expressed “profound disappointment and utter disbelief” at what it termed a premature and unjustifiable show of support for the President.
The PRP faulted the endorsement, arguing that it comes at a time when citizens across Bauchi State and the country are grappling with worsening insecurity, economic hardship, and unemployment. According to the party, the decision by APC stakeholders to back the President reflects “blatant insensitivity and political blindness.”
“It is truly astonishing that individuals who claim to represent the people would openly endorse a president whose administration has been marked by glaring failures, neglect, and disregard for the welfare of ordinary Nigerians,” the statement read.
The party further alleged that the endorsement was driven not by public interest but by political expediency and the pursuit of personal benefits. It described the action as “a mere political convenience aimed at securing patronage,” rather than a reflection of the will or needs of the people.
Highlighting the current socio-economic conditions, the PRP noted that many Nigerians continue to face rising costs of living, deteriorating infrastructure, and persistent security challenges. It argued that such realities should ordinarily compel leaders to demand accountability rather than offer endorsements.
“It is laughable that these so-called stakeholders can, with blind loyalty, endorse a leadership whose policies have failed to deliver security, economic stability, or social development,” the statement added.
The party warned that such political actions risk deepening public distrust in leadership, insisting that those who endorsed the President appear more concerned with political survival than with governance and development.
Calling on citizens to remain vigilant, the PRP urged the electorate in Bauchi State and across Nigeria to “see through this charade” and resist what it described as politics driven by self-interest.
“True leadership is demonstrated through commitment to the welfare of the people, not through empty endorsements,” the statement emphasized, adding that Nigerians deserve leaders who prioritize security, economic growth, and social progress.
The PRP concluded by urging voters to exercise their democratic rights responsibly, reject what it termed “blind endorsements,” and demand accountable leadership focused on the collective good.
The statement comes amid growing political alignments and early positioning ahead of the next general election cycle, with parties and stakeholders beginning to signal their preferences and strategies.
