Omoyele Sowore knows uncountable people amongst the rank and file and high class of the Police.
In fact, many of his class and course mates are in the top echelon of the Police and military.
Sowore knows many judges. Sowore knows magistrates. Sowore knows many traditional rulers and even diplomats.
Sowore knows operatives in all cadres of the SSS and even the NIA.
Sowore knows very many powerful and influential politicians.
Nevertheless, Sowore is one of the most abused, defamed, villified and lied-against Nigerian. People say all kinds of things about him without any shred of evidence. Someone even told me on the phone yesterday that he visited Abuja and when he went to Sowore’s palatial personal mansion, he was dumb-struck and when I asked him where this Sowore personal house in Abuja is located, he started laughing sheepishly.
But Sowore has never, in his 25 years of activism, called any of the people he knows, to arrest or humiliate any Nigerian for abusing, defaming or lying against him.
Everyone that knows him knows he is not a coward, by all standards. He fights institutions. Not individuals. Even those who hate him and his guts, both the rich and poor, run back to him when oppression knocks on their doors. He fights the most for his enemies, to the chagrin of those of us who follow him.
As his disciple, I also learnt that from him very early. He keeps telling us that, it is wrong to use the Police or any security agencies to run after people over civil matters. He tells us that is what thieving politicians and their acolytes do to the poor and we should rather fight against it with all our strength. He emphasizes that, if we must drag anyone to court when offended, we should call a lawyer and not the Police.
Anytime people who describe themselves as activists or social crusaders resort to using state instruments of terror to run after fellow citizens and relish it, they have simply joined the train we are seeking to stop by all means and they do not deserve that toga.
And if you are clapping for such inanity, you aren’t different from the oppressor, you simply haven’t gotten the opportunity to do yours. Simplicita!

Citizen Agba Jalingo.
