The Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Cross River State, Hon. Igri Inyang Yibala, has extended warm Easter greetings to citizens across the state, calling for responsible celebration, unity, and renewed commitment to community development.
In a statement released to mark the Easter season, Hon. Yibala encouraged Crossrivarians to embrace the spirit of the season with joy while maintaining a sense of responsibility. He described Easter as a period of renewal and reflection, noting that its message aligns closely with Cross River Stateโs rich culture of hospitality and peaceful coexistence.
โEaster is a call to unity and service,โ he stated, urging residents to use the occasion to strengthen bonds within families and communities. According to him, fostering unity remains critical to sustaining progress and development across the state.
The ALGON Chairman also commended the Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Otu, for what he described as visionary and innovative leadership. He noted that the administrationโs policies have continued to inspire hope and drive development in various communities across the state.
Highlighting the importance of grassroots governance, Hon. Yibala, who also serves as the Executive Chairman of Yakurr Local Government Area, emphasized the role of local councils in delivering people-oriented services. He said effective governance at the grassroots reflects the core values of Easter, particularly inclusivity, compassion, and love for one another.
He further described the diversity of Cross River State as a major strength, urging citizens to embrace harmony and mutual respect as key pillars for sustainable development.
In his concluding remarks, Hon. Yibala offered prayers for a peaceful and fulfilling Easter celebration, reassuring residents that ALGON remains committed to supporting initiatives that will promote growth, stability, and improved service delivery across all local government areas in the state, including Abi, Akamkpa, Akpabuyo, Bakassi, Bekwarra, Biase, Calabar Municipality, Calabar South, Boki, Etung, Ikom, Obanliku, Obudu, Ogoja, Odukpani, Obubra, Yala, and Yakurr.
