Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Christopher Gwabin Musa, has called for continued national support for troops battling insecurity across the country, stressing that prayers, unity, and collective responsibility remain critical in the fight against terrorism, insurgency, and banditry.
The Defence Minister made the appeal on Tuesday while receiving the General Overseer of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries, Lazarus Muoka, during a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
General Musa reaffirmed the commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity and protecting the lives and property of citizens, noting that the military draws strength from the encouragement and moral support of Nigerians, especially faith-based organisations.
According to him, the fight against insurgency, terrorism, banditry, and other criminal activities requires a “whole-of-society approach,” adding that religious institutions have continued to play a vital role in boosting the morale of troops deployed across various theatres of operation nationwide.
The Defence Minister commended Pastor Muoka and members of the church for what he described as their sustained prayers and unwavering support for the country’s security institutions.
He also urged religious leaders across the country to continue preaching peace, patriotism, unity, and national cohesion, emphasizing that faith-based organisations occupy a strategic position in promoting harmony and supporting national security efforts.
“The support and prayers of religious bodies remain a major source of encouragement to our troops who continue to make sacrifices for the peace and stability of the country,” the Minister stated.
In his remarks, Pastor Muoka assured the Federal Government and the Armed Forces of the church’s continued support, while offering prayers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The cleric prayed for divine wisdom, strength, good health, and the capacity for the President to lead Nigeria towards greater peace, economic prosperity, and national stability.
Pastor Muoka also offered prayers for divine protection and victory for Nigerian troops engaged in various security operations across the country, while calling for lasting peace in all regions of the nation.
The visit concluded with the exchange of souvenirs between the Ministry of Defence and the church leadership, symbolising what both parties described as a renewed commitment to collaboration in advancing national peace, unity, and security.
