Prominent cleric and community leader, Bishop Oscar Okwudili Ossai, has secured the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) senatorial ticket for Enugu North Senatorial District ahead of the forthcoming by-election to fill the vacant seat in the 10th Senate.
The keenly contested primary election was organised following the death of former lawmaker, Senator Okey Ezea, whose passing last year created a political vacuum in the district.
Announcing his emergence shortly after the exercise, Bishop Ossai described the contest as highly competitive and expressed gratitude to party delegates and supporters for their confidence in his candidacy.
The primary, which held across the Nsukka Senatorial Zone, attracted a significant turnout of party faithful and political stakeholders, underscoring the importance attached to the race.
