The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Odest Global Resources Limited, a Customs Bonded Terminal operating in Port Harcourt, Mr. Chidera Oganuzo, has congratulated the newly promoted Acting Assistant Comptroller-General (ACG) of Customs in charge of the Human Resources Department, Frank Onyeka, describing his elevation as a well-deserved recognition of dedication, professionalism, and outstanding service within the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
Oganuzo also praised the Comptroller-General of Customs, , for what he described as a continued commitment to rewarding excellence and competence within the Service.
Speaking on Onyeka’s promotion, the Odest Global Resources boss noted that the appointment reflects the Customs leadership’s determination to recognize officers who have consistently demonstrated integrity, hard work, and commitment to national service.
According to him, the Acting ACG brings extensive experience in personnel administration, operational management, and institutional leadership, qualities that will further strengthen the Human Resources Department and contribute to the ongoing reforms within the Service.
Oganuzo recalled Onyeka’s earlier years of service at the Onne Port Command, where he distinguished himself as a disciplined and result-oriented officer. He noted that during his tenure overseeing operations at the FOT Gate in Onne, Onyeka demonstrated a firm commitment to cargo clearance procedures and regulatory compliance, ensuring that only properly processed goods exited the port while safeguarding the nation’s economic and security interests.
He further stated that Onyeka’s career progression serves as evidence that dedication, integrity, and selfless service remain key ingredients for advancement in public service.
“His rise through the ranks is a testament to years of commitment, leadership, and ethical conduct. It reinforces the principle that excellence and diligence will always be recognized,” Oganuzo said.
Industry stakeholders and maritime observers have also welcomed the appointment, expressing optimism that the human capital development initiatives and reform agenda championed by the Customs leadership will receive further momentum under Onyeka’s supervision.
Oganuzo highlighted Onyeka’s notable achievements in revenue generation, trade facilitation, and anti-smuggling operations during previous postings, particularly at the Tin Can Island Port Command in Lagos, describing the promotion as a natural progression for an officer with a proven record of performance.
He urged officers and personnel of the Nigeria Customs Service to remain committed to the agency’s strategic objectives and to support the leadership’s drive toward improved service delivery.
“The promotion is both an honour and a responsibility. It should inspire officers and men of the Service to intensify their commitment to the Customs mandate and contribute to the realization of the Comptroller-General’s policy framework built on Consolidation, Collaboration, and Innovation, in line with global best practices,” he stated.
