BENDE, ABIA STATE — Road rehabilitation has commenced in several communities across Bende Federal Constituency following the deployment of heavy construction equipment, marking the beginning of what residents have described as the “OFUJI Road Revolution.”
The initiative is being driven by renowned philanthropist and House of Representatives aspirant for Bende Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, Dr. Chima Anyaso, whose latest intervention is aimed at improving access to rural communities through the rehabilitation of critical road networks.
Residents turned out in large numbers to witness the arrival of the earth-moving equipment as work began on roads that have remained in poor condition for years, hindering transportation, economic activities and access to essential services.
Community leaders welcomed the development, describing it as another demonstration of Dr. Anyaso’s longstanding commitment to improving the welfare of the people, even before assuming public office.
One local leader noted that the rehabilitation project would significantly ease the movement of agricultural produce, enhance access to schools and healthcare facilities, and stimulate economic activities across the constituency.
“This is the kind of intervention our communities have long desired. Better roads will improve the livelihoods of our farmers, make transportation easier and reduce the hardship experienced by residents,” the community leader said.
Over the years, Dr. Anyaso has built a reputation for community service through a range of humanitarian initiatives, including educational scholarships, healthcare programmes, youth empowerment and support for vulnerable groups across Bende.
The ongoing road rehabilitation further reinforces his philosophy that leadership should be demonstrated through practical service rather than campaign promises, supporters say.
Political analysts observe that infrastructure projects of this nature often have a significant impact on rural communities, where poor road networks remain a major obstacle to economic growth and social development. They note that the commencement of the rehabilitation exercise is likely to strengthen Dr. Anyaso’s profile ahead of the 2027 House of Representatives election.
As work progresses on the designated roads, many residents have expressed optimism that the intervention will usher in improved connectivity, boost local commerce and lay the foundation for sustainable development across Bende Federal Constituency.
