…As Philanthropist Pledges Sustained Investment in Healthcare Across Federal Constituency
BENDE, ABIA STATE — In a major intervention aimed at improving emergency healthcare delivery, frontline aspirant for the Bende Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, Dr. Chima Desmond Anyaso, has provided a brand-new, fully equipped ambulance for the benefit of residents across the constituency.
The ambulance was formally presented in Bende on Tuesday as part of what Anyaso described as his continuing commitment to addressing critical healthcare needs and improving access to emergency medical services in the area.
The intervention is expected to serve communities across the nine constituent communities of Bende Federal Constituency, particularly residents requiring urgent transportation to healthcare facilities.
Anyaso, a businessman and philanthropist with a record of grassroots interventions, said the initiative was motivated by the need to address delays often encountered by residents seeking emergency medical attention, especially those living in rural communities.
He described the ambulance as an intervention designed not merely to provide transportation but to improve the chances of survival during medical emergencies.
The statement accompanying the handover described the vehicle as “more than just a vehicle”, stressing that it represents a commitment to saving lives, responding promptly to emergencies and ensuring that residents have access to medical assistance when it is most needed.
Addressing community members and healthcare workers at the event, Anyaso confirmed that the ambulance would be made available for public use across Bende.
“By the grace of God, this ambulance will be donated for the use of Ndi Bende because the health and well-being of our people will always remain a priority,” he said.
The ambulance is fitted with essential emergency response equipment, including a stretcher, oxygen support, first-aid kits and communication devices.
The vehicle is expected to complement the work of primary healthcare centres and support communities in the transportation of patients requiring urgent medical attention. Among those expected to benefit are accident victims, pregnant women experiencing complications and patients requiring emergency referrals to better-equipped medical facilities.
Anyaso described the ambulance as the first phase of a wider healthcare intervention programme for Bende, promising that further investments would follow.
“This is only the beginning. Together, we will continue to build a healthier, safer and more caring Bende,” he stated.
He also reiterated that his contributions to Bende have extended beyond healthcare, pointing to interventions in education, road infrastructure and other areas of community development which, according to him, have been financed substantially through his personal resources.
Reaffirming his commitment to the constituency, Anyaso concluded with his campaign slogan: “For God. For Bende. For the People.”
The intervention received commendation from community leaders, who described the provision of the ambulance as timely and capable of addressing a longstanding challenge in emergency transportation.
A traditional ruler from one of the autonomous communities said residents had, for years, been compelled to depend on commercial vehicles to transport sick persons and accident victims to hospitals, sometimes resulting in avoidable complications.
“This ambulance will give our people hope. It means a pregnant woman in labour at night, or a child involved in an accident, can now get to the hospital faster,” the monarch said.
Healthcare workers who witnessed the presentation also welcomed the initiative, expressing optimism that the vehicle would significantly strengthen emergency response across Bende Local Government Area and neighbouring communities.
The latest intervention adds to a series of community-focused activities associated with Anyaso as he continues to pursue his ambition to represent Bende Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.
