…As DCA Movement Says Support for Ofuji Is Voluntary, Driven by His Philanthropy and Leadership Record
BENDE, ABIA STATE — A grassroots political support group, the Desmond Chimaobi Anyaso Movement (DCA), has declared its support for the re-election of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, and the 2027 House of Representatives ambition of Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, popularly known as Ofuji.
The group made its position known during a solidarity visit to Anyaso at his country home in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State at the weekend.
The visit, according to the delegation, was primarily to formally introduce the movement to Anyaso and communicate its resolve to mobilise grassroots support for his bid to represent Bende Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, while also campaigning for Governor Otti’s second-term bid.
Speaking during the visit, the Bende LGA Coordinator of the movement, Engr. Prince Okey Kalu, stressed that the organisation was established independently by individuals who had been inspired by Anyaso’s leadership qualities, humanitarian interventions and commitment to community development.
Kalu explained that the group was neither established nor commissioned by Anyaso, insisting that its members voluntarily came together because of their conviction that he could provide effective representation for the people of Bende.
“We did not consult Dr. Chimaobi Anyaso before forming this movement. We came today simply to inform him that this organisation exists because of our conviction that he possesses the capacity, compassion and competence to represent the people effectively,” Kalu said.
He added that the members were motivated by their personal convictions and not by financial inducement, describing the movement as a grassroots initiative founded on the desire to promote what they considered purposeful leadership.
Members of the delegation commended Anyaso for his philanthropic activities, accessibility and interventions in communities across Bende and beyond.
They also praised his support for Governor Otti’s administration, describing the governor’s performance in Abia as evidence of a new direction in governance.
The Deputy Mayor of Bende LGA, Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Sandra Anya, who addressed the gathering, commended the DCA Movement for identifying with Anyaso’s political ambition and urged its members to remain united as they embark on grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
Anya called on the group to sustain its support for both Otti and Anyaso, stressing the importance of grassroots engagement in determining the outcome of future elections.
Responding, Anyaso expressed appreciation to the members of the movement for their solidarity and confidence in his political ambition.
He described the visit as an indication of genuine grassroots belief in the vision of building a more prosperous Bende and a stronger Abia State.
The philanthropist particularly praised the group for coming together voluntarily without seeking financial inducement, saying such initiatives could contribute to strengthening democratic participation at the grassroots.
Anyaso urged the members to remain committed to supporting the Otti administration and to intensify voter mobilisation across Bende ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He further charged them to promote peaceful political participation and remain vigilant in protecting the integrity of the electoral process.
According to him, every lawful vote must count and be protected through active and peaceful participation by citizens.
The DCA Movement has consequently positioned itself as a grassroots support platform for Governor Otti’s re-election and Anyaso’s proposed bid for the Bende Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections.
The meeting ended with members reaffirming their commitment to expanding the movement’s grassroots presence and mobilising support across Bende Local Government Area ahead of the elections.
