BENDE, ABIA STATE — Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Dr. Chima Anyaso has unveiled a people-centred development agenda for Bende Federal Constituency, promising to place competence, character, accountability and tangible development at the heart of representation.
Speaking during a community engagement in Bende on Thursday, Anyaso said the emerging political conversation should go beyond electoral politics and focus on the issues that directly affect the lives and livelihoods of constituents.
He identified eight priority areas of his proposed agenda: people-centred leadership, economic growth, job creation, quality education, security, peace, unity and infrastructure development.
“Bende needs leadership that listens first and delivers second,” Anyaso said. “Our young people need jobs, our schools need support, our roads and markets need attention, and every community deserves to feel safe.”
He said sustainable economic growth in the constituency would require deliberate support for small businesses, agriculture and skills development capable of creating meaningful employment opportunities, particularly for young people.
According to him, quality education and accessible healthcare are equally critical to laying the foundation for sustainable development, while improved infrastructure would unlock economic opportunities and enhance the quality of life across the constituency.
On security and peaceful coexistence, Anyaso advocated stronger collaboration among traditional institutions, youth groups and security agencies, stressing that lasting development could only take place in an atmosphere of peace and stability.
He further urged voters to make the 2027 elections a contest of competence, capacity and verifiable commitment to public service rather than one driven by political slogans.
“The 2027 conversation should be about track record and capacity to deliver, not just slogans,” he said.
“A greater Bende is not just a slogan. It is a responsibility we must collectively pursue.”
Community leaders who participated in the engagement described the agenda as timely, with poor infrastructure and unemployment among the major concerns they expect the next representative to address.
Anyaso is seeking election to represent Bende Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, with his campaign message: “Vote Dr. Chima Anyaso for Bende Federal House of Representatives.”
As political activities gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 elections, the early articulation of policy priorities by aspirants is increasingly shaping conversations among stakeholders in Bende over the issues, competence and leadership qualities voters are likely to demand at the polls.
