Anyaso Honours Item Kingdom At Cultural Day In Aba, Presents Car To Okpi

It was a day of culture, colour and celebration in Aba on Saturday as sons and daughters of Item Ancient Kingdom gathered for the 2026 Item Cultural Festival.

Among the dignitaries who identified with the kingdom was the Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency, Dr. Chima Anyaso, who sent a strong message of solidarity to the people of Item.

Dr. Anyaso, who was represented by the Director General of his Campaign Council, Pastor Dike Okechukwu, congratulated the Item people on the successful hosting of the festival in Aba, the commercial nerve centre of Abia State.

In his goodwill message, Anyaso described Item as a great and historic kingdom that has produced distinguished men and women who have made remarkable contributions to Abia State, Nigeria and the world at large. He mentioned financial and development expert, Aroma Oteh, as one of the many shining lights from the kingdom.

He said the cultural heritage of Item, its unity, and its contributions to society deserve recognition, respect and continued support.

Anyaso also reaffirmed his commitment to always stand with the people of Item, assuring them that he would not support any attempt by anyone to shortchange the kingdom.

He further assured the people that the administration of Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, remains committed to their wellbeing and development.

High Point: Brand New Toyota Highlander For Okpi Of Item

The high point of the celebration came when Dr. Anyaso presented a brand new Toyota Highlander to the Okpi of Item, HRH Eze Silas Igwe.

According to the campaign team, Anyaso had observed the condition of the monarch’s vehicle and decided to present a new car as a befitting honour to the revered traditional stool of Item.

The gesture drew loud applause from the crowd.

A visibly delighted Eze Silas Igwe expressed deep appreciation to Dr. Anyaso for the gift. He offered prayers for him and declared that the time had come for Anyaso to represent Bende Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.

The 2026 Item Cultural Festival brought together traditional rulers, community leaders, sons and daughters of Item Ancient Kingdom at home and in the diaspora, and other stakeholders to celebrate the cultural identity, unity and heritage of the people.
