Coalition Readies For 30th Anniversary Of June 12, Features Tinubu As Grand Commander Of African Politics
Attracts Core Political And Civil Society Leaderships On Valentine’s Day
In a move for the first of its kind in honour of heroes and heroines of Nigerian democracy, fallen or alive, the umbrella body of hundreds of youth and students’ and organisations home and Diaspora, the Coalition For A Better Nigeria, inaugurated in 2009, in FESTAC Town, Lagos State, is set to hold special anniversary of the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election won by business mogul and philanthropist, Chief MKO Abiola.
The election result was annulled by the then military president, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, popularly known as IBB.
In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Awa Bamiji, the organisation said the coalition was inaugurated with the blessings of prominent Nigerian political and civil society leaders who were in the struggle for the revalidation of the cancelled poll result, which had the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as one of the leaders.
He described the APC presidential candidate as “our rave of the moment, human capacity developer, great philanthropist, political strategist, a true democrat of three decades running, the living legend of the June 12 democratic struggles, the visioner, the performer, who took Lagos State out of its poor financial position of inability to pay regurlar salaries in May 1999 cum meagre N600 million internally generated revenue.”
The coalition added that “today, by God’s grace, the State is generating N50 Billion monthly turning it to the third leading economy in the continent of the whole Africa.”
At the event, the organisers said, the APC Presidential Candidate and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, among notable others, are fully set to bestow the Grand Commander Of African Politics Silver Award on Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The award, a statement by the National Coordinator of the Coalition said, is “in form of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu statue playing football as Captain of African football team politically.”
The event is part of the groups activities to mark the 30th year anniversary of the June 12 election annulment, a date already pronounced Nigerian “Democracy Day”, with support of President Muhammadu Buhari and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to statement, “it is high time the international community of the civil society bestowed honour on whom it is due at this right period, before the 2023 Presidential Election.
“It is on the record that the 3rd edition of our National Discourse and the 2019 Pre – Election National Discourse which were held at Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, and Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja, where President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, was represented by Alhaji Abideen Oladimeji, former CPC Chairman, Oyo State, and Dr Adewale Balogun, Executive – Director, Beko Ransome – Kuti Centre for Good Governance (CGG) respectively, witnessed massive turnouts and it’s on this note, the 2027 edition of the National Discourse would present President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as “Life Patron, Civil Society Community In Africa”, by God’s grace.
“The event which will take place inside the Asiwaju Bola Tinubu/Kashim Shettima Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Opposite Bank of Industry, Wuse, Abuja, on Tuesday, 14th February, 2022, by 11am prompt, will be chaired by Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, Executive Governor of Kaduna State, and to be hosted by Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu and Mr Simon Lalong, the APC National Chairman and the Director – General, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu/Kashim Shettima Presidential Campaign Council respectively. Chief Host is President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.
“The well researched National Discourse, “Think Lagos Security, Economy, Human Capacity Development: Vote Tinubu secure future, do otherwise embrace failure” will be delivered by Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje (North) and Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu (South), Executive Governors of Kano and Lagos States respectively.
“Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the Special Guest of Honour while Guests of Honour are all members of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and All APC Presidential Aspirants.
“Fathers of the day are all the former Governors and close Lieutenants of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed, Tinubu Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola SAN, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode and Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola while Mothers of the day are Dr (Mrs) Aisha Buhari, Wife of the President, Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo, Wife of the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, Senator Remi Tinubu, our Incoming First Lady, by God’s grace, and Hajia Nana Shettima, Wife of the APC Vice Presidential Candidate, Senator Kashim Shettima”, the Coalition said.
The coalition then noted that the target audience at the physical venue will be 1000 participants only while millions of other people around the world can participate virtually via the live coverage of the event by Television Continental (TVC).
The side attraction, the Coalition noted, would be a world-class entertainments of “different kinds and maximum Security guaranteed.”
The arrival for the physical participants is Monday, February 13, 2023.
A National Discourse hold Tuesday, February 14, which was described as the Day of Victory in Yoruba language, while participants departs on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.
