Luis Suarez: It is more difficult to play my game at Barcelona than it was at Liverpool… the style has been a whole new world for me

Luis Suarez has admitted the Barcelona style of play was a whole new world for him after he completed his £75million move from Liverpool last summer.
The Uruguayan striker won the PFA Player of the Year award and was top scorer in the Premier League last season, but struggled to adapt early on at the Nou Camp.
However, Suarez netted the crucial winning goal in El Clasico against Real Madrid last weekend and says he is more confident with his play now, often shooting rather than passing to team-mates.
He also revealed it is harder to execute his game at Barcelona, with most teams sitting deep against the La Liga giants.
‘Against Barcelona, most of the teams sit deep,’ the 28-year-old told Kicker.
‘That was something I had to get used to, even though I am used to the physical battle as a striker.
‘But there’s little space for my game here. It’s more difficult than at Liverpool. Barca’s style was a whole new world for me.
‘My instincts as a striker were fine from the start but I did not know how to act on the pitch. At first, I did not want to be seen as a selfish player so I thought: ‘What will the other guys say to me?’
‘So I ended up passing the ball instead of shooting. Over the course of time I dared to shoot again. But I know that I must respect Barca’s playing style here.’
Suarez has scored seven goals in his last seven games for Barca.
