Children of late democracy icon, philanthropist and business mogul, Chief M.K.O. Abiola have moved to immortalise their late father.
The children under the aegis of Advocacy for Democratic Tradition (LDT), a mobilization and advocacy platform initiated in 2011 by Kassim Olajide Abiola and Aliyu Ngaba Abiola, is holding an interaction on July 7, 2015 in Lagos.
In a statement signed by the LDT Coordinator, Aliyu Abiola, and made available to TheStreetReporters.com, the group disclosed that the event will hold at Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.
According to the statement, the body was set up “to promote unity amongst Nigerians towards the widening of the democratic space for peace, political stability and sustainable development will hold a public forum in remembrance of the life and times of our father Late MKO Abiola.
“LDT is conceived as a platform to engage the challenge of building a united Nigeria on the basis of equity, fairness and justice within the context of political history and the sacrifice of Chief MKO Abiola.
“Towards this end, a public lecture to commemorate the life and times of Chief MKO Abiola with the central theme: UNITING NIGERIA THROUGH THE LEGACY OF MKO ABIOLA is being organised to hold on July 7th; the day MKO Abiola departed the earth surface with the aim of sustaining the democratic legacy of Chief MKO Abiola in the Nigeria’s politibal transition process.
“The programme is expected to be attended by Statesmen, leaders of thought, government and political leaders, Activists and Scholars among to bear their views on the maiden annual public interaction, which focuses on the subtheme MKO: Bravery and Sacrifice in the Struggle for Democracy.
