Buhari Goes For IBB Man’s Jugular, Why He Is After Dasuki

Sambo DasukiBarely three days after he was removed from office as National Security Adviser (NSA) by the President Muhammadu Buhari, operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS) have laid siege on the Abuja and Sokoto residences of the immediate past NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd).

TheStreetReporters.com gathered that many armed operatives in four unmarked trucks, swooped on the home of the retired military officer, frisking everyone around his Asokoro residence.

A source said the operatives, apparently acting on higher instructions, were after Dasuki in connection with the amount of money said to have been spent under his watch as NSA since his appointment by ex-President Goodluck Jonathan in
2012.

The DSS team, led by one Mohammed, reportedly stormed Dasuki’s home in four Hilux vans around 6:40pm on Thursday and were still in the compound as at 9pm, claiming that there were in his house for “official reasons”.

They however failed to give details or disclose who sent them.

The operatives, who took positions around the compound, did not allow movement into or outside the building.

There was however no sign that Dasuki, who did not come out to meet them, would allow them in.

A source around Dasuki’s Abuja residence said, “The ex-NSA has not allowed them entry into his home and has not come out to meet them but they are threatening to force their way into the house.”

Another source in Sokoto said while the Abuja drama was on, another set of SSS operatives were carrying out a similar siege on Mr. Dasuki’s family House, owned by his father, a former Sultan of Sokoto, Ibrahim Dasuki, in Sokoto metropolis.

Apparently in search of the missing money, “They have descended on his father’s compound in Sokoto  and have so far searched the whole house including a large container that has been in the compound for many years,” the source said of the Sokoto Home.

Day Two

The siege at the residences of the former National Security Adviser continued into the second day Friday, as personnel of the State Security Service, SSS, maintained their positions on the property at John Kadiya Street in Asokoro District of Abuja.

By Friday morning, TheStreetReporters.com gathered that the SSS operatives, who threatened to force their way into the Abuja residence if not allowed in, eventually gained access into the house and evacuated all the vehicles inside the compound, “including that of his wife, his worker and visitors”, a source said.

It was unclear if Dasuki was arrested at the time of this report but the source said the ex-NSA had sought to know what he had done wrong to warrant being arrested, adding that the operatives were still keeping guard at the House to “ensure that nobody exits and nobody goes into the compound”.
Dasuki was said to had arrested then Military Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari on the eve of Sallah in 1985, when the then military ruler’s regime was overthrown by General Ibrahim Babangida.

It’s believed in some quarters that Sambo Dasuki, who was the Aide-de-camp (ADC) to president Ibrahim Babangida, is facing a payback time for arresting Buhari in 1985.

Mr. Dasuki, was appointed the NSA on June 22, 2012 by the former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, but was removed as NSA last Monday by President Buhari after his three years service to the nation.
