The Executive Chairman of Isoko North Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Egbabor and three others namely; Foreman-Brown Idogho, Oghenero Ogbodo and Barrister Chopinx Ogaga Omoroh have been commended for registering the Isoko Development Union (IDU) with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) at the time they did.

The commendation came on the heels of a letter personally signed by the President-General, Maj. Gen. Chief Paul Ufuoma Omu (Rtd) commending Hon. Emmanuel Egbabor and his team for taking the bold step to register the IDU with the Corporate Affairs Commission free of charge and without asking for any returns or conditions before submitting the registration documents to the IDU leadership.

The appreciation letter dated 13th August, 2015, reads in part “The entire Isoko Nation, under the auspices of the Isoko Development Union (IDU) write to express its appreciation for the patriotic step taken by you and your group to register the Isoko Development Union with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) at the time you did.

“Furthermore, your decision to release the certificate of registration to the leadership of the IDU without conditionalities embellishes your spirit of civism.”

While reacting to the commendation by the IDU, a former Chairman of Isoko
South Local Government and former President-General of the Isoko Development Union (IDU), Chief Idu Amadhe commended Hon. Emmanuel Egbabor and his group for their patriotic gesture in registering the IDU.

According to Chief Amadhe, the IDU in Lagos is registered and that of the National wasn’t for many years. If some young men in Isoko were able to register it they should be commended and not be vilified.

“For those who accused them of registering IDU for selfish reasons, they should ask themselves what they did with it. What benefit did they get for registering it other than protecting the name of the IDU?

“If a child went to the bush to kill an animal and bring the head to the father to bless him there is nothing wrong in that.

“Their action is worth emulating because as a true patriotic son or
daughter of Isoko, anything you can do to contribute to the Isoko Nation is highly appreciated. I therefore align myself with the IDU in commending them for their patriotic deed.”

In his reaction, Hon Egbabor said the negative criticisms from some corners over the registration will not deter him from doing good for the development of the Isoko Nation. Continuing, Egbabor said “IDU has been in existence for over 75 years without being registered and he feels proud to be among those that made the registration possible.”

In the wake of the campaign for the local government elections in 2014, some 5th columnists had accused the Executive Chairman of Isoko North Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Egbabor and three others for registering the Isoko Development Union (IDU) for personal gains.

Despite his explanations then, that it was done out of patriotism to
protect the name Isoko Development Union, IDU from being taken over by unauthorized persons, he was vilified by a few for being patriotic. Now he has been vindicated and commended for his unparalleled patriotism.
