Delta State AssemblyA COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT END OF A MEETING BETWEEN THE DEPUTY SPEAKER, DELTA STATE HOUSE ASSEMBLY, RT. HON. FRIDAY OSSAI OSANEBI CLAN/COMMUNITY YOUTH PRESIDENTS AND CHAIRMEN IN NDOKWA EAST, NDOKWA WEST AND UKWUANI LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREAS OF DELTA STATE ON THURSDAY, 3RD DECEMBER, 2015.

The meeting was attended by Youth presidents from the Thirty six (36) clans in Ndokwa nation: Twenty two (22) Ndokwa East, six in Ndokwa West, and Nine ( 9) clans in Ukwuani LGAs as well as the community Youth Chairmen which make up the clans.

A total of One Hundred and Twenty Nine (129) Youth leaders were in attendance.

The Deputy Speaker was supported at the meeting by the member representing Ndokwa West in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Azuka Azaka, commissioners representing Ndokwa Ethnic Nationality on the Board of the DESOPADEC Comr. Nnamdi Ezechi and Hon. Flenjo Fidelix Oputa, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security, Hon. Basil Ishiekwuene, Special Assistant to the Governor on youths and community Development, Comr. Benjamin Onwubolu, Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth and Community Development, Comr. Tony Ndanenu and Member, Delta State Water ways and land security, Mr. Anslem Nzete ( Omamuli)

The Deputy Speaker, in his address to the youth leaders expressed his determination to promote the overall interest and development of Ndokwa and his willingness to support the youths in an effort to bring about unity, peace and security in the communities.

He reiterated his position that empowerment shall be distributed through accepted clan and community youth leaders to ensure that the grassroots are carried along in government policies and programs.

The highlights of the meeting were the resolutions by the community youth leaders as follows:

  1. That the community Youth leaders condemn and dissociate themselves from the nefarious activities of the self styled coalition of Ndokwa Youths which tended to create hostility and security alarm in Ndokwa nation.

  2. That Ndokwa Nation remains peaceful and accommodating host to multinational firms and government installations, particularly the various oil and gas companies and the independent power plant ( IPP) at Okpai.

  3. That Ndokwa Community Youths Commend Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Friday Osanebi for their interest in youth development and especially the empowerment of youths by the present administration through Operation Feed your Neighbor (OFN).

  4. Ndokwa Youths endorse the new policy of disbursing dividends of democracy and in particular, proceeds of Operation Feed your Neighbor directly through clan presidents and community youth chairmen.

  5. Ndokwa Youths affirm their determination to protect and secure their various communities from all forms of criminality especially cultism, kidnaping, armed robbery, pipe line vandalization and illegal oil bunkering.

  6. The youth leaders expressed their unflinching support to the present administration of Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa in Delta State for being youth friendly in policies and programs and for appointing many Youths into positions of responsibility in government.

  7. The Youths agreed to come under one umbrella and elect a single leadership from all youth groups in Ndokwa nation that will be formidable and truly representative of their goals and aspirations.

  8. They agreed to key into government’s SMART agenda and form community based cooperatives to benefit from the small and medium enterprises ( SMEs) and Micro Credit Schemes.

  9. They appealed to government to ensure that Ndokwa youths benefit fully from Youth Agricultural Entrepreneurship Program ( YAGEP) and Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Program ( STEP).

  10. Following a motion moved by Comr. Emma Obaah, seconded by Comr. Sam Olise which was unanimously supported, the youths passed a vote of implicit Confidence on Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa and the Deputy Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Friday Osanebi for their dynamic leadership and mentorship of youths through out the state.
