Petrol Price, Electricity Tariff Hike: NUJ FCT Directs Members To Mobilise For Indefinite Strike Action
Squeal to the directive of the Nigeria Labour Congress for a nation-wide indefinite strike action over the issue of recent Hike in electricity tariff and Petrol Pump Price, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council of Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) has directed its members to mobilise for indefinite industrial action.
The Street Reporters Newspaper reports that in a statement signed by NUJ FCT Secretary, Ochiaka Ugwu, described the increment as inhumane.
He said “I am directed to inform you to mobilize all our members especially in government-owned media organisations to actively take part.
“The strike action is to take place effective Monday, September 28, 2020.
“No doubt that this will affect our activities in the short term, but the long term benefits are overwhelmingly more significant, both for yourselves and for us.
“Make no mistake about it, the inhuman hike on petrol pump price and electricity tariff has unleashed hardship on Nigerians who toil day and night to make both ends meet”, the NUJ FCT council stated.
