The Grand Council of Yoruba Youths has applauded the remodeling of Lekan Salami Stadium, embraces its genuine critics and tasks Seyi Makinde on maintenance culture; congratulates Alaafin; Gbenga Daniel; Ex – FIRS Boss, Babatunde Fowler @ 65; Alapomu @ 58; former NANS President Segun Mayegun @ 52; former Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Osun State during last administration, Sunday Akere @ 60; GTB MD Miriam Olusanya; mourns Sakirat Odumosu, Deborah Abosede Mayegun, Olasumbo Ajose.

The President General of the group, Comrade AWA Bamiji in a statement said, “It is a beauty to behold in Adamasingba Central Business District, Ibadan, as Lekan Salami Stadium got a face lift and wore a new colour courtesy Oyo State Government.”

The group added that “while congratulating Government and good People of Oyo State on this feat, we must not at the same time shy away from calling the attention of its Architect, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, to some positive criticisms that could be considered in good faith as the remodeling works are still in progress on the Stadium.

“It is equally important to put in place a long term mechanism towards achieving a geniune maintenance Culture because this is the first time the historic renovation was achieved on this Stadium since its emergence in 1976 but it had happened to our notable National Stadia like Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Liberty Road, Ibadan; Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja; and National Stadium, Surulere, ahead of hosting FIFA under 20 Junior World Cup by Nigeria in April 1999 but Today, they are all in sorry situation.

“The Stadia, Cultural Centres, Museums, National Theatres, Parks and other important structures are our heritages that must be preserved jealously.

“We congratulate Iku Baba Yeye, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, LLD, CFR, JP, Alaafin of Oyo, on the successful completion of this year edition of World Sango festival which was held recently in Festival Arcade, Aafin Oyo.

“It is an international tourist gathering to behold and if this kind of festival is properly developed by both the Federal and State Governments, it will be another veritable source of Internally Generated Revenue that can boost our ailing economy and increase youth employment.

“We felicitate former Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, as he happily gave out his beautiful Daughter, Kehinde Abioye Daniel to her handsome Husband, Adebola Tokunbo Williams, in marriage, which its reception was recently held in Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos State.

”It paraded qualitative and quantitative attendance which included Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, former President Goodluck Jonathan and his Wife, Patience, Governors Rotimi Akeredolu and Kayode Fayemi of Ondo and Ekiti States respectively, Pastor Tunde Bakare, Senator Olorumbe Mamora and among others.

“Mr Babatunde Fowler is the household name “both in Lagos State and Nigeria at large simply because of so many lives this gentle and headworking man has touched while he was the Chairman, Lagos State Inland Revenue Service and Federal Inland Service respectively and several others that he is still touching.

“For decades, he remains One of those very few Leaders with large hearts and Technorats of all seasons that keyed into humanitarian philosophy of Nigerian Political Strategist of Decades and his amiable Political Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Professionally, he is excellent as both the Lagos State and Federal Revenue Services witnessed an alarming upsurge during his periods as Mr Chairman.

“It is on this note, we, Yoruba Youths, are celebrating your 65th Birthday with pomp and pageantry to serve as a moral lesson for others that are presently in good positions of Authority to make positive impacts on the less privileged but decided otherwise.

“Kabiyesi, Oba Kayode Adenekan Afolabi, a noble descendant of prestigious Giesi family of Ile – Ife and Alapomu of Apomu Kingdom, we thank God for your life on the occasion of your 58th Birthday anniversary simply because of the way Apomuland has witnessed massive development under your peaceful reign.

“We recognise the former Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Osun State, during the immediate past administration of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and Oluomo of Igbajoland, Hon Sunday Akere, who clocked 60 recently and our other respected Comrade and long standing Idol (Orisa) of both June 12 and NANS Struggles, the former National President, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Segun Mayegun as he turned 52.

“To you all, we say “Many Happy Returns”.

“We hail the most timely appointment of the new Managing Director of Guarantee Trust Bank, Miriam Olusanya and congratulate this Banking Giant on the successful completion of its reorganisation for better service delivery and unveiling of a new operating Company, Guarantee Trustee Holding Company (GTCo) with Mr Sola Oyinlola and Mr Segun Agbaje as Board Chairman and Group CEO respectively and Guarantee Trustee Bank as its Subsidiary.

“We sympathise with our big Brother at this trying moment of his life, Idol of Nigerian Democratic Struggles, Comrade Segun Mayegun, over the loss of his caring Mother, Deborah Abosede Mayegun, who passed on 4 days a go and to be buried at Ejiba, Kogi State, on Friday.

“We therefore urge only genuine and and we can provide Democrats across the States of Federation to attend this rite of passage and COVID – 19 Protocols will be strictly adhered to.

“We equally mourn the passage of Alhaja Sakirat Odumosu, mother of Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, who passed on last week at the age of 88 and Mrs Olasumbo Ajose, the State Treasurer, All Progressives’ Congress, Lagos State.
