The Commissioner of Police(CP), Enugu State Command, CP Abubakar Lawal, has enjoined the Local Government Chairmen in the area to engage the youths in profitable employment, no matter how small, to help them to abstain from unlawful activities.He said that such opportunities could play down on insecurity
in the area.
The Commissioner, who was on a tour of Nsukka Area Command recently, also pointed out that he has been briefed by the Area Commander(AC) and the Divisional Police Officers(DPOs) on how the Chairmen have been assisting the police in the area and appreciated them for their assistance.
The CP, while thanking the people for their support & praises to the police for their performance, also promised to consider their requests of enhancing communication system and deploying more man-power to the Command for easy policing of the area.
He gave assurance that the police will do more in the area of security checks in the area. The Chairmen in the area, Barr. Cosmas Ibeziako Ugwueze-Nsukka, Comrade Andy Peter Nnabuike Omeje-Igbo-Eze South and Hon. Chukwudi Nnadozie-Uzo-Uwani Local Government Councils who were present, also told the CP that the police were doing well.
Those who also spoke during the meeting include Chief Williams Agbo, the Managing Director, Willson Group, His Royal Highnesses, Igwes Rapheal Eze of Obige-Obukpa, George Asadu of Ihe- Nsukka & Hyacent Eze of Ibagwa-Aka, Alhaji Mohammed Azaga,the Seriki Hausawa, Alhaji Yakubu Ome, among others. They told the CP that the police were doing very well in the Command & requested the CP to ensure that they were given express promotions, in addition to deploying more personnel to the Command for effective policing.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Area Commander, Mr. Hassan Yahaya, who appreciated the CP’s visit, further said that he did not want to bother the CP with a lot of requests, but requested the CP to upgrade the Command’s Communication System to enhance it’s security surveillance.
Also in his vote of thanks to the CP & his team, the DPO for Nsukka Urban, Mr. Ukwa Bernard Amaga thanked the CP & his entourage for the visit and assured the CP that the police would be encouraged to carry out their duties more diligently.
Present during the CP’s visit include His Royal Highness, Igwe Michael Utazi of Anuka, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP),Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area(LGA), Princess Chinwendu Ogbonna & her All Progressives Congress(APC) counterpart for Nsukka LGA, members of the Police Community Relations Committee(PCRC), Nsukka Divisional & the Area Command Police Headquarters, the Road Safety, the Civil Defence, the Prisons, among others.
