The Katsina State Deputy Governor, Qs Mannir Yakubu, President Muhammadu Buhari and other top personalities, at the weekend, were at the palace of the Shehu of Borno in Maiduguri as the Vice Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Kashim Shettima, married out daughter, Fatima Kashim Shettima, to Sadiq Ibrahim Bunu.

The groom is the son of the former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Alhaji Ibrahim Bunu.
The wedding Fatiha which took place at the palace of Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Elkanemi.
Other dignitaries in attendance were the Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Gambari (who represented President Buhari), President of the Senate, Senator Ahmed Lawan, National Security Adviser, Maj. Gen. Babagana Monguno (rtd ), National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress ( APC ), Mr. Abdullah Adamu, and presidential candidate of the APC in the upcoming 2023 election, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, among many others.

As early as 7am on Saturday, hundreds of people of the ancient city of Maiduguri trooped out to attend the wedding ceremony, with some youths dressed in colourful attires holding Nigeria’s and APC flags to welcome dignitaries.
A former governor of Bauchi State and ex-national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Ahmed Adamu Mu’azu, stood in for the groom and accepted the wedding vow from the Borno State governor, Babagana Umara Zulum who stood in for the bride.
Zulum accepted the dowry worth 12 gold coins.

The ceremony also caused heavy traffic gridlock in parts of the state, especially along the roads leading to the Shehu’s palace and the city centre for more than three hours, even as numerous security vehicles were seen blaring sirens in the city.
