6th Annual Mining Week: Nigeria Is A Mining Destination And We’re Ready For Business – Adegbite

The Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Architect Olamilekan Adegbite has noted that the 6th Edition of the annual Nigeria Mining Week which is slated to hold from Tuesday 1st November 2022 to Thursday November 2022 is designed to promote Nigeria as the next best investment destination for Mining.

The Minister made the disclosure in his address at the 6th Edition of the annual Nigeria Mining Week, 2022 pre-event Press conference held in Abuja.

” Nigeria is a mining destination and we are ready for business, ” We hope that this year event which will hold from 1 to 3 November 2022 at the Abuja International Conference center will be much bigger and exciting for all, both visitors that will coming in and of course those that will be joining us online.

He said “After the two years of digital connection, the entire mining value chain will reconnect face to face and explore the many exciting opportunities that the mining sector of West Africa powerhouse offers and while the progress that has been made thus far to kick start the country’s mining sector will be showcased”.

Adegbite said the Nigeria Mining Week is proudly hosted by the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development and organised by the Miners Association of Nigeria in collaboration with Pwc Nigeria and the the Vuca Group, has been a committed promoter of what is widely regarded as the best next investment destination for Mining houses and investors and in particular the Nigeria has been putting all its political will and weight behind the promotion of the Sector and the event to gather investors, mining houses, thought leaders, innovators and disruptors.

The Minister further stressed that forthcoming mining week form part of the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development strives in beating the country drum loudly that Nigeria is a mining destination and clearly gracing many mining forums around the globe and communicating the message that Nigerian mining sector is ready for investment and development; and the results are speaking for themselves with the exciting new Iron Ore, Bitumen and Barite projects that are in active development and already up and running.

In her welcome address, the Hon. Minister of state, Mines and Steel Development, Sen. Gbemisola Saraki said the Nigeria Mining Week will continue to be a cardinal platform where key discussions as related to the mining sector are discussed and solutions are developed to ensure that mining in Nigeria becomes a shared prosperity for all Nigerians.

She commended the host, Ministry of Mines and Steel Development and the organizing body, Miners Association of Nigeria as well as the partners who have been working tirelessly to ensure the sustainability of the Nigeria Mining Week.

Earlier in his remarks, the Acting President of the Miners Association of Nigeria Alh. Musa Muhammad believed that the country mining industry has made important strides forward, both for investors, mining houses and the people making a living off the nation’s valuable and varied minerals resources.

“As a reminder, Nigeria Mining Roadmap, developed by the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development and approved by the Federal Executive Council in 2016, aims at seeing the mining sector contributing 27 billion USD to GDP by 2025, we believe this benchmark is achievable based on the 2021 sector performance”.

He said the year 2022, being a pre-election year in Nigeria, the Nigeria Mining Week will offers a good opportunity to highlight the strength of the mining industry and how this can be leveraged on emerging opportunities to further grow the sector.

“On the sidelines of the key issues that this year edition will focus on, the event will endeavor to share the industry achievements in the areas of Gold, Kaolin and Gemstones as well as the success recorded in the exploration and Geological data collection and archiving.

Alh. Musa Muhammad maintain that the gathering will also examine the legacy challenges of funding for small scale mining, security of mining assets and the likes.

The 6th Edition of the annual Nigeria Mining Week which is slated to hold from Tuesday 1st November 2022 to Thursday November 2022 is organized by the Miners Association of Nigeria, hosted by the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development and in partnership with Pwc and Vuka Group.
