Alhaji Lam Onaolopo Adeshina, popularly known as Great Lam, was the Executive Governor of Oyo State between 1999 to 2003.

His Southwest Contemporaries were Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Lagos State; Aremo Segun Osoba, Ogun State; Chief Bisi Akande, Osun State; Otunba Niyi Adebayo, Ekiti State and Chief Adebayo Adefarati, Ondo State. All of them were elected under the Alliance for Democracy (AD) as their Political Party, purely Progressive.

Comrade Awa Bamiji, on behalf of His Excellency, Iyiola Oladokun, Chairman, Organising Committee, said that today, Friday 11th November, 2022, is exactly 10th year after his death and the main reason why his families, associates and friends across the Southwest States and beyond gathered in large number at Jogor Centre, Liberty Road, Oke – Ado, Ibadan, to remember Life And Times of Great Lam, once again, as we are approaching 2023 general election.
