Spread the love

Amid ongoing legal crossfire between the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, and that of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was declared the winner of the presidential polls by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mr. Obi has persuaded his followers not to turn the Election Petitions Tribunal premises into a rally ground.

The Labour Party candidate who maintained that he won the February 25, 2023 presidential election pleaded with his supporters who constitute the Obidient Movement to respect the sanctity of the Court premises and give the legal team the space and peaceful environment to carry out their duties.

In his tweets on Wednesday, Mr. Peter Obi noted that “As we go about seeking redress for our stolen mandate, I plead with OBIdients to respect the sanctity of the Court premises and give our legal team the space and peaceful environment to carry out their duties.

“The Court Premises is not and should not be turned into a rally ground. I urge the Obidients to go about their businesses peacefully. – PO”, the twitter thread read.

However, in the reaction, the Obidients disagreed, urging him not to be afraid as what he is witnessing at the tribunal premises is not a “rally” but “solidarity”, arguing that it’s about their lives and their children’s future, insisting that they won’t vacate the court premises.

“Don’t be afraid Sir, Obidients are peaceful NIGERIANS. It is called Solidarity not rally. The only Business we the Obidients have now is to retrieve our MANDATE… let the courts be aware!”, an Obidient replied.

Another in his reply, vowed, “@PeterObi we are not leaving the court to attend to our businesses. We will die here in court, this is our life, our and children’s future. Please throw away that civility for now.”

Another follower responded, “The people’s president please stop listening to the people telling you to tell us to calm down. It’s our mandate that was stolen not even yours.”

Many other comments towed the same line as one charged angrily, “Boss.. We go change am for you ooo… Your job is (to) enter court with your lawyers, leave our job for us… APC thinks they can do anything and go scot free”, while another asked, “We should go about our business peaceful in the court premises. Right?”
