Indigenes Seek Govt Intervention As Heavy Downpour Erodes Major Culvert in Kogi East

Indigens of Ogalaja, Ofada, Emakpe, Ofante and Ofabo in Ogbonicha ward, Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State have called on the attention of the Kogi State Ministry of Rural Development and the Kogi State Road Maintenance Agency (KOGROMA) to the eroded Une River Culvert on the Aloma- Ofabo-Ogalaja Akpanya Road.

In a joint statement released to Newsmen in Lokoja by Mr Omojo Godson and Mr Attah Dan on behalf of the affected communities, urged the Kogi State Government to look into the plights of the people and rescue them from the danger posed by the erosion.

In their words “this is another major setback to us, the entire Culvert on the Une River has been eroded away leaving the communities disjointed.

“Our people could no longer go to their farm and market, how can we cope with the current subsidy saga?

“This is indeed another major setback to us. We call on the Kogi State Government to come to our rescue ummediately” they said.

Godson said “a portion of our road between Aloma and Ogalaja is being eroded. In short it has cut off completely, the ADP culvert has finally removed, so motorists like forest Timber movers and Okada are to take note as well as other road users.

“We are currently asking the government and well spirited persons to come to our aid in order to get the road repaired”

Dan also revealed that the presence of Tec engineering construction Company at Aloma near the Location of the damage to the road should be an added advantage to the rehabilitation of the Culvert.

The statement finally urged politicians to see this as an opportunity get the votes of all the affected communities come November 11, 2023 through their interventions.
