As Delta State prepares to go to the polls to elect Chairmanship and Councilorship candidates across the 25 local government areas, the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has thrown its weight behind the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmanship candidates.

According to Chief Efe Tobor, CUPP Chairman in the State, and Prince Henry Eze, spokesman, the endorsement was announced at a press conference in Asaba at the weekend.

“The CUPP has been assessing the campaign trains of the different Political Parties presenting candidates for the July 13th election and have discovered that it is only the PDP chairmanship candidates that have campaign council structures in all the 25 local government areas,” Chief Tobor explained.

He added that the endorsement is in line with CUPP’s philosophy of supporting the best candidates to ensure free, fair, and credible elections.

“CUPP finds it impressive that PDP is the only Party in the state that has deliberately elected to have female vice-Chairmanship candidates in the state, thus showing examples to other Political parties the wisdom behind being gender-friendly,” Prince Eze noted.

The CUPP has called on all political parties, stakeholders, and Deltans to vote massively for the PDP chairmanship candidates in Saturday’s LG election for the interest of peace, harmony, and progress.

“We look forward to a very robust local government election on our journey towards building a virile democracy, justice, and rule of law in our State,” Chief Tobor said.
