Ex-Katsina Deputy Gov Mourns As Renowned Educationist and Philanthropist, Professor Ismail Junaidu, Passes Away
The Nigerian academic community has been thrown into mourning with the passing of Professor Ismail Junaidu, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) in Abuja. He died on Thursday in Damaturu, Yobe State, after a brief illness at the age of 69.
Professor Junaidu, a distinguished educationist from Bayero University Kano, was known for his immense contributions to the field of education and his philanthropic efforts.
He is survived by his wife, eight children, and 12 grandchildren.
The late professor was laid to rest at the Danmarna Cemetery, Tsohuwar Kasuwa Quarters, Katsina Metropolis, in a funeral attended by dignitaries, including QS Mannir Yakubu, the immediate past Deputy Governor of Katsina State.
According to a statement signed by Ibrahim Musa Kallah, his Chief Press Secretary, QS Mannir Yakubu, who was among the early callers and dignitaries at the funeral prayer, paid tribute to the deceased, describing him as an erudite educationist with a golden heart.
He prayed for Allah’s forgiveness for the shortcomings of the deceased and for the family, friends, and associates to have the fortitude to bear the loss.
Professor Junaidu’s passing has left a void in the academic community, and he will be deeply missed by his colleagues, students, and beneficiaries of his philanthropic efforts.
“May his legacy continue to inspire and motivate future generations of educationists and philanthropists”, the Ex-Deputy Governor prayed.
