Allocation Saga: Tinubu Faces Accusations of Meddling in Rivers State Governance
A recent Federal High Court ruling seizing Rivers State’s monthly allocations has sparked controversy, with Comrade Timi Frank, former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), alleging that President Bola Tinubu is behind the move.
Frank claims that Tinubu seeks to remove Governor Siminalayi Fubara from office, either by forcing him to join the APC or orchestrating his removal. This, Frank argues, is a blatant disregard for democracy and the rule of law.
“The President is angry that Fubara disrespected him by refusing to join the APC,” Frank stated. “This is why the President has remained mute despite the gross violation of the Constitution by the courts and police in Rivers State.”
Frank also accuses Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, of acting as Tinubu’s proxy in the dispute.
He then warned that any attempts to destabilize Rivers State or remove Fubara will be met with fierce resistance from the people and the Niger Delta region.
Frank urged Governor Fubara to stand firm in defending Rivers State’s sovereignty, emphasizing that the people support him. He also called on international leaders to intervene, cautioning that the crisis could impact regional stability and the operations of International Oil Companies.
Frank’s allegations have raised concerns about Tinubu’s involvement in Rivers State governance and the implications for Nigeria’s democracy. The situation remains tense, with many watching for further developments.
