IGP Commends Police As Security Agencies Shine in Anti-Kidnapping Missions, Arrest Suspects

In a resolute move to reinforce the fight against kidnapping and violent crimes across the country, the Nigeria Police Force has announced the successful rescue of multiple kidnapping victims in two separate operations carried out in Anambra State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The operations underscore as contained in a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the unwavering dedication of the nation’s ssafeguardinges to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens.

On March 22, 2025, a coordinated response by a joint security team, comprising operatives from the Anambra State Police Command and other security agencies, led to the rescue of three individuals who had been abducted in the Nkwelle-Ezunaka area of Oyi Local Government, Anambra State. According to the Nigeria Police Force, the victims had sustained injuries at the hands of their captors but were promptly taken to the hospital and are now responding well to treatment.

In a similarly decisive operation, security operatives responded to the abduction of a Naval Officer, along with two others, in the Mpape area of the FCT on March 21, 2025.

The rescue mission, which involved collaboration between the FCT Police Command, the Nigerian Military, the Department of State Services (DSS), hunters, and local vigilantes, culminated on March 23, 2025, with the successful rescue of the three victims at Anguwan Mu’azu in Nasarawa State. Notably, the victims were rescued unharmed, and four suspects were apprehended in connection with the incident.

While praising the bravery, dedication, and collaboration of the officers involved, Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to curbing criminal activities, including violent crimes.

He assured Nigerians of the continued strategic efforts under his leadership to rid the nation of criminally minded elements.

According to the statement, the IGP emphasized: “We remain steadfast in our commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of the citizens of our dear country. These successful rescue missions are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our operatives and our collaboration with sister security agencies.”

The police also encouraged citizens to remain vigilant and supportive, underscoring the importance of community cooperation in achieving a safer Nigeria.
