Arewa Youths for Effective Leadership, a group spread across 19 northern states, has strongly condemned the recent brutal killing of travelling hunters in the Uromi area of Edo State, an incident that has sparked outrage and despair across the country.
In a statement signed by Ibrahim Musa Kallah, Chairman of the group, Arewa Youths for Effective Leadership expressed their deep dismay over the attacks on hunters from the North, describing the violence as unacceptable. Kallah emphasized that it is intolerable for citizens to endure such horrific treatment simply because of their geographical origins.
The group has called on the federal government, northern state governors, senators, and other stakeholders to take immediate action to address these senseless killings. They demanded justice for the victims and measures to ensure such incidents are not repeated.
Kallah stressed the importance of leaders recognizing the gravity of the situation and taking decisive steps to guarantee the safety and security of all citizens, regardless of their geographical origins.
The statement further urged the federal government to address the underlying causes of these conflicts, which include poverty, inequality, and social injustice.
The group believes that addressing these root causes is essential to preventing future violence and ensuring lasting peace across the country.
