In a bid to strengthen defence and security ties, the Nigeria’s Minister of Defence of Nigeria, H.E. Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has emphasized the importance of fostering deeper collaboration between Nigeria and the European Union (E.U.).
This sentiment was expressed during a courtesy visit by Mr. Casmin Dirban, Director of the Peace Partnership and Crisis Management Department of the European External Action Service, at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
The discussions between the two parties focused on enhancing cooperation in tackling pressing security challenges such as terrorism and banditry.
Minister Badaru stressed the need for deliberate efforts to identify additional areas of partnership in defence and security matters, noting the value of a robust collaborative approach to address common threats.
Mr. Casmin Dirban, accompanied by the European Union Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Ambassador Gautier Mignot, reaffirmed the strong bilateral relations between the E.U. and Nigeria.
He further expressed the E.U.’s commitment to fostering a more comprehensive and dynamic relationship in security and defence sectors.
The meeting highlighted the shared interest of both parties in maintaining regional stability and addressing global security challenges through mutual cooperation.
This renewed focus on defence collaboration between Nigeria and the European Union marks a significant step forward in their shared efforts to create a safer and more secure future.
