Air Peace to Oshiomhole: “No One Was Extorted, Wants CCTV Footage of the Senator’s “Performance” Released

In what has spiraled into a high-altitude squabble, Air Peace Airlines has firmly rejected claims made by Senator Adams Oshiomhole, who accused the airline of extorting passengers and overbooking a flight.
The airline, in a strongly worded press statement, described the former Edo State governor’s outburst as a “deliberate falsehood” and a “shameful performance at departure”, calling for the release of the airport’s CCTV footage.
According to Air Peace, not only were no passengers extorted, but the very flight in question reportedly departed with over 30 empty seats — hardly the hallmark of an overbooked aircraft.
“It would have been in our interest to carry Oshiomhole and the others who missed their flight, but we will never sacrifice our on-time reputation for monetary gain,” the statement read.
The airline also disputed the senator’s claims of fighting on behalf of other passengers. Instead, it painted a picture of political drama at the terminal gates, accusing Oshiomhole of arriving late, mounting the baggage conveyor belt, and blocking both check-in counters and terminal access — a scene more fit for a campaign trail than a departure lounge.
Air Peace challenged the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to release CCTV footage from the day, suggesting that a public review would set the record straight.
“If the Senator has any evidence of extortion, let him bring it forward,” the airline insisted. “Until then, we advise he stops boarding flights of fantasy and instead, arrives on time like every other passenger.”
Whether this turbulence between the politician and the airline calms or escalates remains to be seen. For now, Air Peace is flying high on punctuality — and public clapbacks.
