The 2025 Eid El-Maulud celebration in Kaduna on Saturday, September 6, unfolded with a profound message of unity, compassion, and nation-building as the Obidient Movement joined Muslims across the country to mark the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
Under the radiant September sun, the city renowned for its cultural diversity became the stage for a call to a new Nigeria, delivered with conviction on behalf of the 2023 Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi.
In his message, Obi reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to a Nigeria that transcends divisions and reflects the teachings of the Prophet โ unity, compassion, and service to humanity. โToday, as we celebrate the birth of the Prophet, we are reminded of his call to serve the poor, uplift the downtrodden, and foster peace. This is the same call that I answer every day โ a call to build a new Nigeria where no one is left behind,โ he declared.
Obi emphasized that a new Nigeria is not a distant dream but a tangible possibility, grounded in values of justice, equity, and productive governance. His vision, echoed at the Maulud, paints a picture of a nation that prioritizes production over consumption, education over ignorance, and unity over division.
Drawing from his longstanding philosophy, Obi stressed the need to channel national resources into youth empowerment, healthcare, and support for the vulnerable โ principles that align seamlessly with the Prophetโs message of compassion and justice.
The diverse crowd, cutting across faith and background, listened intently as Obiโs words struck a chord with their yearnings for integrity-driven leadership. โThis is about dismantling the old order of exclusion and inefficiency,โ his message declared, โand about fostering a Nigeria where good governance reflects the Prophetโs teachings in public life.โ
The spiritual weight of the Maulud provided the perfect backdrop for acts of humility and charity, including visits to hospitals, schools, and communities across the country โ not as political gestures but as expressions of service and solidarity.
Obiโs message was clear: the Maulud is not just a celebration but a beacon of hope for national renewal. โObi does not differentiate between Muslims and Christians,โ a supporter noted. โFor him, the Maulud is a symbol of unity โ a reminder that a new Nigeria is possible.โ
As chants of โA New Nigeria is POssibleโ echoed through Kaduna, the celebration became more than a religious observance โ it became a reaffirmation of hope, unity, and the shared vision of a nation on the cusp of transformation.
