The Progressive Next Generation Initiative (PNGI), a prominent youth-driven support group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), has formally endorsed former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, for the Kogi Central Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections, pledging an aggressive voter mobilisation drive across the district.
In a statement signed by the Convener of PNGI, Hon. Jeffery Omoh Ozemegwa, and corroborated by a key stakeholder, Hon. Ibrahim Adoga, the group described Bello’s senatorial ambition as a “transformative opportunity” for Kogi Central.
PNGI lauded Bello’s record during his eight-year tenure as governor from 2016 to 2024, citing achievements in infrastructure development, youth empowerment, security architecture, and the promotion of unity across the Ebira nation. According to the group, Bello’s experience in governance and his national political stature position him as a strong and effective voice for Kogi Central at the National Assembly.
The group announced its readiness to deploy its grassroots structures for what it described as a massive voter mobilisation campaign.
“We will mobilise voters massively across Adavi, Ajaokuta, Okehi, Okene, and Ogori-Magongo Local Government Areas,” the statement said. “Our structures on the ground, combined with the enthusiasm of youths and progressive-minded citizens, will deliver an overwhelming mandate for Alhaji Yahaya Bello.”
PNGI’s endorsement follows closely on the heels of Bello’s formal declaration to contest the senatorial seat, which took place during a high-profile visit to the palace of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland.
The declaration was made in the presence of Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, and other political stakeholders, where Bello responded to sustained calls from supporters, stating, “I accept to run for the Senate in 2027.”
Reaffirming its ideological stance, PNGI reiterated its commitment to youth inclusion, progressive politics, and strengthening the APC’s dominance in Kogi State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group also pledged to collaborate with other like-minded organisations to consolidate party structures and ensure electoral success across the state.
