The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has recorded a significant boost to its growing youth-driven political movement, as two prominent young entrepreneurs and social media influencers formally declared their interest in contesting for seats in the House of Representatives under the party’s platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development unfolded on Wednesday at the party’s National Secretariat, where the National Chairman, Senator Moses W. Cleopas, alongside the Deputy National Publicity Secretary and Spokesperson, Hon. Abdulmumin Ohiare Abdulsalam, received Alhaji (Dr.) Aliyu Sarkin Mota, Chief Executive Officer of Sarkin Mota Autos Limited, and Dr. Salim Ilyasu Goje, Chief Executive Officer of Danmama Homes Limited.
During the visit, the duo expressed their intention to obtain nomination forms to contest for legislative seats representing Yola North Federal Constituency in Adamawa State and Jalingo Federal Constituency in Taraba State, respectively. Their declaration signals an early build-up toward what is expected to be a highly competitive electoral cycle.
Both aspirants, described as influential figures among Nigeria’s digitally connected youth population, pledged to leverage their social media reach and networks to galvanize support for the NDC nationwide. They further committed to mobilizing young voters and bringing in business associates and allies to strengthen the party’s grassroots and national structures.
Party leaders welcomed the development as a strategic reinforcement of the NDC’s ideological focus on youth inclusion and leadership. Senator Cleopas and Hon. Abdulsalam commended the aspirants for aligning with the party’s vision, noting that their age, influence, and entrepreneurial success position them as valuable contributors to the party’s future.
The NDC leadership also assured the aspirants of institutional support within the party, emphasizing that young members remain central to its political architecture and long-term electoral ambitions.
The visit underscores the NDC’s continuing effort to position itself as a platform for emerging leaders and signals increasing interest among Nigeria’s youth and private sector actors in shaping the country’s political landscape ahead of 2027.
