Dutse, the capital of Jigawa State, witnessed a significant political shift on Sunday as the governorship ambition of Sabo Mohammed Nakudu received a major boost following a formal declaration of loyalty by the political structure of Shehu Mohammed Sanusi to his movement under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The high-profile event, held in Dutse, drew thousands of supporters, predominantly from Dutse Local Government Area, alongside representatives from seven local government areas within the Dutse Emirate. The massive turnout underscored a deepening wave of grassroots mobilization and consolidation of political support around the senatorโs governorship bid.
The gathering attracted key stakeholders within the party, including the ADC Chairman of Dutse LGA, Alhaji Muโazu Dodo, the Local Government Women Leader, and former Chairmen of Dutse and Sule Tankarkar Local Government Areas, Alhaji Zubairu Abaya and Alhaji Sale Ahmed Danzomo. Also present was the ADC Peace Ambassador, Alhaji Nuradeen Jidawa, among other notable figures, reflecting a broad coalition of political actors aligning with Nakuduโs camp.
Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, Senator Nakudu expressed appreciation for what he described as a decisive moment in strengthening the partyโs grassroots structure.
He characterized the endorsement as a strategic milestone and reiterated his commitment to leadership anchored on fairness, honesty, and inclusiveness. He assured supporters that his movement would remain united in pursuit of shared political objectives under the ADC platform.
In his remarks, the senator emphasized the importance of youth engagement in the political process, urging young people to play a proactive role in safeguarding electoral integrity. He called for calm, patience, and vigilance during the electoral period, particularly in awaiting the outcome of polls.
Nakudu also directed his message to women, describing them as central to electoral success. He urged them to remain watchful, raising concerns about alleged attempts by opposition elements to sway voters through financial inducements. Despite acknowledging disparities in financial resources between his camp and rival groups, he expressed confidence in divine support and the resilience of his supporters.
Reaffirming his developmental agenda, the senator pledged to deliver meaningful progress that would directly impact the lives of the people of Jigawa State, positioning his candidacy as one rooted in service and collective advancement.
Earlier in the proceedings, the convener of the meeting, Alhaji Shehu Mohammed Sanusi, stated that the purpose of the gathering was to formally present his political structure to Senator Nakudu. He confirmed that the entire structure had been fully integrated into the senatorโs governorship movement within the ADC framework, expressing strong optimism that the alliance would significantly strengthen Nakuduโs electoral prospects.
The development signals a notable political realignment in Jigawa State, as momentum builds and alignments shift ahead of the 2026 governorship election, with emerging alliances expected to play a decisive role in shaping the contest.
