The Delta State Government has commenced the disbursement of the 2025 scholarship awards to children of deceased civil servants and students living with disabilities across the state, in a move aimed at strengthening educational support and social inclusion.
The disbursement exercise, approved by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, is being coordinated by the Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board.
In a statement signed by the Executive Secretary of the board, Godfrey Enita, the government disclosed that the payment process would run from Tuesday, May 19, 2026, to Friday, May 29, 2026.
According to the board, the scholarship initiative was introduced to provide educational assistance to children of deceased civil servants and students with disabilities, in line with the state government’s commitment to inclusive education, human capital development and social welfare.
The statement noted that the scheme reflects the administration’s determination to reduce the financial burden on vulnerable families while encouraging students to pursue their academic goals without interruption.
Beneficiaries and members of the public seeking clarification on the exercise were advised to contact designated officials of the board. Enquiries relating to children of deceased civil servants are to be directed to Patricia Olie, while issues concerning students living with disabilities should be referred to Chinedu Uwabuofu.
Dr. Enita urged all beneficiaries to take advantage of the disbursement window to access their scholarship payments promptly, assuring that the process would be carried out smoothly and transparently.
