The candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 Ebonyi Central Senatorial election, Dr. Ugo Magnus Kel, has pledged to provide inclusive, people-oriented, and development-driven representation if elected to the National Assembly.
Speaking shortly after emerging as the party’s candidate for the highly strategic senatorial contest, Dr. Kel described his emergence as both a privilege and a solemn call to service for the people of Ebonyi Central Senatorial District.
The ADC candidate expressed gratitude to God and the leadership of his party for the confidence reposed in him, assuring supporters that his aspiration would be driven by humility, unity, and commitment to grassroots development.
“For me, this emergence is not merely a personal achievement; it is a call to serve the people of Ebonyi Central with humility, sincerity, and dedication,” he stated.
According to him, his candidacy reflects the growing desire among the people, particularly youths, women, farmers, traders, and professionals, for a more inclusive and accessible style of leadership.
Dr. Kel noted that Ebonyi Central remains one of the most politically significant districts in Ebonyi State, stressing that its diversity should serve as a source of strength and collective progress rather than division.
He emphasized the need for peaceful and development-focused politics capable of uniting communities across the senatorial district irrespective of political affiliations or local interests.
“I am entering this race with a peaceful heart and with deep respect for all political leaders, elders, stakeholders, and institutions that have contributed to the development of our senatorial district over the years. Politics should not divide our people; it should unite us for development,” he said.
The ADC standard bearer further declared that his ambition transcends personal or partisan interests, insisting that his focus would remain on improving the welfare of ordinary citizens and expanding opportunities for all segments of society.
Outlining his priorities, Dr. Kel promised to focus on youth empowerment, job creation, educational support programmes, agricultural development, skills acquisition, women empowerment, and support for small businesses.
He also pledged to attract more federal opportunities and infrastructure projects to the district if elected in 2027.
“The people of Ebonyi Central should expect accessible, transparent, compassionate, and inclusive representation,” he affirmed.
The senatorial hopeful promised to maintain constant engagement with constituents through regular consultations with community leaders, traditional institutions, women groups, youths, professionals, and other stakeholders to ensure participatory governance.
He stressed that representation should not be limited to election periods alone but must involve continuous interaction between elected officials and the people they serve.
Dr. Kel further advocated unity and inclusion across all communities within the district, irrespective of clan, religion, local government, age, or political affiliation.
“Ebonyi Central belongs to all of us. My mission is to build bridges, strengthen harmony, and promote fairness and equal opportunities for everyone,” he said.
He added that his ultimate goal is to restore confidence in political representation by remaining accountable, accessible, and fully committed to the aspirations of the people.
The 2027 Ebonyi Central Senatorial contest is expected to attract significant political attention as parties intensify consultations and strategic alignments ahead of the general elections.
