-Analysis: What Effective Representation Really Means

BENDE – As the 2027 elections approach, a critical question is dominating conversations across Bende Federal Constituency: What does quality representation truly mean?

For many in Etitiulo, Bende Town, where the Good Conscience Movement recently collapsed into the Labour Party, the answer is simple – Bende does not just need a man in Abuja, Bende needs MORE representation.

The group, in pledging support for Governor Alex Otti and Dr. Chima Anyaso, said they had studied what representation has become versus what it should be.

“Representation is not about how loud you fight on the floor of the House. It is about how much comes home,” a youth leader at the event said. “We need schools that work, young people with jobs, farmers with support, and a Representative we can see and touch.”

This is where the argument for Dr. Chima Anyaso is gaining ground.

Observers note that while the current occupant, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, has built a reputation around motions, bills and media battles, many communities in Bende say they feel abandoned. From Umuimenyi to Umuhu-Ezechi to Item and Igbere, the complaint is similar: We hear him fighting on TV, but we don’t feel him at home.

Anyaso, on the other hand, is pitching a different model – MORE representation.

More Presence: A Representative who lives among his people, not one who visits only during elections.

More Empowerment: A clear plan for youth employment and women empowerment through his Chima Anyaso Foundation, which has already trained thousands of Abia youths before even entering office.

More Peace: A man who will respect the 2019 rotational agreement between Ikwu-Isii and Umunna that has kept Bende united, committing to serve and return power for equity to reign.

More Access: A business leader who can use his network to attract federal presence, investors and projects, not just explain why projects failed.

An elder summarized it in Etitiulo: “The other man will speak at Bende. Chima Anyaso will speak for Bende.”

With the collapse of the Good Conscience Movement structure into LP, the 2027 contest is no longer just about party. It is about the definition of representation itself.

And Bende appears to have made its choice.

VOTE LABOUR PARTY! VOTE DR. CHIMA ANYASO FOR EFFECTIVE REPRESENTATION!
