Ex-Ogun Gov Candidate, Okunniyi, Congratulates Amosun

The governorship candidate of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in Ogun State in the 2011 election, Che Olawale Okunnyi,  has congratulated Senator Ibikunle Amosun on his victory at the just concluded gubernatorial polls of the state.

Okunniyi recently rejoined the All Progressive Congress (APC) from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) led by Aremo Olusegun Osoba, where he aspired to govern the state.

Okunniyi, one of the high ranking leaders of the defunct CPC who pivoted APC merger in Ogun state said with the resounding victory of Senator Amosun at the governorship elections, he has demonstrated a required acceptance for the success of his second term in office.

In a terse statement on Monday, personally signed by him, Okunniyi commended Governor Amosun for his political tenacity and pleaded with him to be large hearted enough to embrace both political opponents and supporters alike “to discourage undue opposition, in the interest of the stability needed for good governance in the state.”

The Ago Iwoye born politician however expressed appreciation to some APC leaders, including; Prince Tony Momoh, former Chairman of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, Governor Rauf Aregbesola of the State of Osun and Alhaji Tajudeen Bello, national officer of APC in Ogun for making it possible for him and his associates to play a role in the success story of the party.

Okunniyi, who was received back into the APC with key leaders of his ‘Ogun Esoji’ political structures by Governor Aregbesola, southwest coordinator of APC presidential campaign, however reaffirms his group’s loyalty and commitment of the constitution, manifesto and government of the party.

The former SDP Chieftain, who teamed up with APC and inspired other party faithfuls to dislodge the hold of PDP and others in his ifelodun constituency; however thanked APC supporters and faithfuls for delivering his polling unit, ward and the State House Of Assembly seat of the ifelodun constituency of ijebu north to the APC.
