“We must stop people from stealing public money. We must use public money for the public good. And that will be seen, it will be shown,” Obi declared on Monday, October 26, 2026, at the unveiling of NDC’s new national secretariat in Abuja.

The event, which also featured inauguration of party’s National Presidential Campaign Council and presentation of certificates of return to candidates, marks a major escalation in NDC’s preparations for 2027 general elections.

Obi is contesting alongside his running mate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

Governance Is About Solving Problems, Not Blaming People — Obi

Taking a direct swipe at President Bola Tinubu’s administration, Obi said Nigeria’s leadership must stop dwelling on past problems and focus on delivering measurable solutions.
“The purpose of governance is to solve problems, not to blame people. Kwankwaso and I will not blame anybody. We will create that new Nigeria that is possible,” Obi said.

“We don’t want you to hire us to tell you about our problem. It’s only in Nigeria that you hire people, and they start reminding you of what happened in the past. No, we don’t want you to hire us to tell you about our problem. We want you to hire us to improve from today,” he added.

Obi accused Tinubu administration of worsening economic hardship despite increased revenues and heavy borrowing, arguing that vast national resources have failed to translate into better living conditions for Nigerians.
“From my engagements all over Nigeria, Nigerians are looking for new leadership. And we assure you that we will create that new leadership,” he said.

We Will Account For Every Kobo — Obi Challenges Tinubu On Budgets, Borrowing

Obi placed accountability at heart of his campaign, challenging federal government to explain how funds raised from borrowing and revenues in recent years have been spent.

He questioned implementation of 2023, 2024, and 2025 budgets, alleging that capital expenditure remained below 20 percent while contractors owed by government struggle for payments.

He demanded detailed account of projects, achievements and expenditure, insisting that public officeholders who divert public funds must be held accountable in accordance with law.

Obi Vows Emergency Measures On Security, Agriculture, Power, Education, Health

The former Anambra State governor promised emergency interventions across critical sectors, saying Nigerians would see measurable results from day one.

On security, he promised direct, responsive leadership.
“If they say there is a problem in Jos, he will go to Jos,” Obi said, pledging to visit Plateau, Benue, Zamfara, Sokoto, Borno and other states affected by insecurity.
On agriculture, he promised to declare emergency in northern Nigeria, where insecurity has displaced farmers.

“We have vast land in the north. When we secure the north, our farmers must go back and produce what we eat and what we use for our industries,” he said.

He also promised emergency on electricity generation, transmission and distribution, functional primary healthcare centre in every ward within two years, overhaul of basic education to address out-of-school children, and revival of moribund industries.

“We must create a society where a child of nobody will be somebody without knowing anybody,” Obi said on education.

Over 20% Of Bank Credit For Small Businesses — Obi

Obi lamented that Nigeria has over 40 million small and medium enterprises, SMEs, but they receive less than five percent of bank lending. He promised tax holidays, incentives and dedicated credit.

“We will put a mark to it. We will ensure that over 20% of credits will go to small businesses. We will support them,” he pledged.

Revolution Of The Ballot — Obi Warns Against Intimidation

Warning against political intimidation and harassment of NDC supporters, Obi called for free, fair and credible 2027 elections.

“Humility and civility are not weaknesses. It is a virtue. Good behaviour is not a weakness. It is a virtue,” he said.

“The revolution that is coming is a revolution of the ballot,” he declared.

NDC Chairman Cleopas: We Will Not Tolerate Unfulfilled Promises

Earlier, NDC National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas, said party conducted primaries within short period and is determined to distinguish itself through innovation, unity and accountability.

He disclosed that certificates of return have security codes to prevent impersonation and warned that party would not tolerate unfulfilled promises.

“If we fail to bring water for you in two years, if we open our mouths to say, vote for us again, please don’t vote for us. We are going for a rescue mission; the hope of this country is in NDC,” Cleopas said.

Dickson Describes Jabi Secretariat As NDC’s Noah’s Ark

The new secretariat at 393 Etang Obuli Crescent, Jabi, Abuja, was unveiled as party’s administrative headquarters and presidential campaign coordination centre.

National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, described it as NDC’s “Noah’s Ark” — a unifying centre ahead of 2027 polls. Dignitaries at event included Senator Victor Umeh, Dumo Lulu-Briggs, Senator Aisha Binani and other party leaders.
