How Power Outage Stopped Senate Hearing on Power Sector

Hearing by the ad hoc committee empaneled by the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, to probe the sector was on Wednesday crippled by power outage.

The committee’s sitting could not hold as scheduled as a result.

This is not the first time lawmakers would be probing the power sector.

During the late President Umoru Musa Yar’Adua administration, the House of Representatives had empaneled the Elumelu probe committee, which produced no acceptable report.

The panel’s report was dead on arrival and amounted to efforts in futility.
